Difference Between Single Vender and Multi Vender ecommerce site
Generally the buyer
would like to gain the benefits of economies of purchasing (price variation,
freight and insurance) , and just-in-time supplies, and mainly credit offered
during adverse times; further, the required quantity supplied on demand and also
alternative products, if one product is in less supply;
The single vendor
has his own limitations when it comes to providing beneficial purchase to the
buyers like varied but similar products and the relative price
variation—-because of the terms of agreement with the original manufacturers;
the manufacturers themselves have their own shortcomings on account of
competitors and other factors.
SV is also affected
by his ability to maintain a steady stream of supply from the manufacturers for
reasons pertaining to business and finance; Therefore it is always better to
have a group of suppliers of same and varied but similar products, to ensure
that the supply does not get impacted adversely and price of products;
As a business man I
would make a study of different manufacturers of items which my business
requires and also their vendors/outlets in my location or in proximity to my
works, rather than worrying about single and multi-vendors.
A single vendor can
either be dealing a product on an exclusive basis in your location or handling
similar goods of multiple manufacturers; but he is at a disadvantage when it
comes to handling products of multiple manufacturers, as there could be some
restrictive clauses in agreements with them; You will be landing in a
trap when you do business extensively only with one vendor.
